2019 Advent and Christmas at Zion

Zion’s Advent Festival: December 1st - Young & old are invited for a morningg of activities on Sunday, December 1, following the 9 a.m. service. Join us for crafts, food, fun, and fellow-ship. We’ll begin with holiday activities and end with a stuffed baked potato dinner.

Advent and Christmas Deck the Halls: December 1st - Zion’s Altar Guide would like to invite everyone to help deck the halls and decorate the Christmas trees here at Zion. Want to help? Join us following the service on Sunday, December 1st, for the Advent Festival, Baked Potato lunch and tree trimming!

Krumkake Fundraiser: December 5th - The WELCA will be selling Krumkake, a Scandinavian cone shaped waffle cookie, as a fundraiser in December. On Thursday, December 5th, a group will get together to make and pack orders. If you would like to help, come join the fun! Have questions? Call the church office.

Order your krumkake by December 3rd by calling the Church Office. If no one is there, please leave your name, phone number, and number of dozens you want. Cost is $6 a dozen You may pick up and pay for Krumkake on Friday, December 6th, between 11 a.m.–1 p.m. or 4 p.m.–6 p.m.

Pop Up New-To-You Christmas Sale: December 7th - WELCA will be sponsoring a New-To-You Christmas Sale on Saturday, December 7th, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. in the Education wing entryway (NW door). Stop in and shop. If you have some used Christmas treasures that you no longer need or want, please drop them off at church by December 5th and we will find them a new home.

Santa Lucia Luncheon is December 13th, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.. Join us for a traditional Swedish meal while dining in a Scandinavian setting with music by the Scandinavian Singers. Cost is $10. Proceeds will be shared by local benevolences supported by the women of Zion. All Zion families are asked to bring 2-dozen cookies. Those women not supplying food for the luncheon are asked to donate $5. Money may be given to the WELCA chairpersons, Ardy Becklin, Carol Kiel, Sandy Warmanen, or the church office.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing: December 14th, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. - Every December we have the opportunity to help our neighbors in need when we assist with the Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign. Zion is responsible for ring the bells on Saturday, December 14th, at Teal’s Market. All money raised stays in our community. You can help make a difference by giving of your time ringing the bells and by contributing as you are able. Sign up on the clip board during service or call the church office.

Christmas Carol Sing-along: December 15, 8:45 a.m. – Want to sing those favorite Christmas hymn? Then join us prior to worship on December 15th at 8:45am when we will have a Christmas Carol Sing-along.

Christmas Cheer Baskets December 16th - Zion WELCA will be preparing Christmas baskets for all members of our church family who are 80 years old or older. Anyone who does not wish to receive a gift basket please call the church office before December 5. Helpers are needed to prepare and deliver the Cheer baskets at 1 p.m. on December 16th. If you would like to donate wrapped hard candy, cookies, Christmas breads, or money for fresh fruit, please talk to Ardy Becklin or Carol Kiel.

Sunday School Christmas Program: December 22nd - Come all ye faithful and enjoy the Sunday School’s presentation of a “Whoville” Christmas on Sunday, December 22nd, at 9 a.m. during the regular Sunday Service. After the program please join us for “Grinch” treats in the fellowship hall. No Sunday School.

Todd Lines Returns!
The tradition continues! Todd Lines will join us 12/22 at 3 p.m.and entertain us with a delightful variety of secular and sacred Christmas music. And there will be a sing-along too! This is a great way to celebrate this joyous season.

Tuesday, December 24th – Christmas Eve Candlelight Services at 4:30 and 10:30 p.m. With Holy Communion at the later service

Service of Lessons & Carols for Christmas on Sunday, December 29th at 9 a.m. No Sunday School.
